With Tita's gone, I'm going to have to tour all the Hawaiian plate lunch places in the area to find a kalua pork substitute. That and the fried eggs with fried rice were our brunch standards at Tita's, and I'll miss the chow and pleasant service, as well as the lovely walk there.
I've been thinking about doing a Hawaiian plate lunch tour anyway, here's what I know of in or near SF, anyplace you'd add to the list?
-Aloha Island BBQ: Tanforan, San Bruno
-Hawaiian Drive-in: three locations, San Bruno Ave; San Pedro near Mission in Daly City; Hazelwood Dr in SSF
-L&L Hawaiian BBQ: four locations, Kearny/Bush; Mission St in Daly City, San Bruno Town Center; Linda Mar Shopping Ctr, Pacifica (and one planned for Clement St, according to the website)
-Ono Hawaiian BBQ: Sloat Ave
While the Hawaiian Drive-ins are independantly owned and operated, L&L are franchises. Anyone know if there's much variation?
