I took my wife to Riingo on Friday for her birthday. At the end of the evening, we both agreed that it was so-so and that there was no need to rush back.
The Service: The waitstaff was very friendly, but clearly had not yet hit its stride. There was an extremely long wait between courses and it was difficult at times to get the waiter's attention.
The Space: The lounge up front is very cluttered; the dining room is underwhelming. The room was also underheated and everyone sitting in the downstairs room complained that their feet were freezing. Another small complaint (which I often have) is that I could feel the waitstaff everytime they passed behind my chair because the floor sagged under their weight.
The Food: For apps, my wife had the tuna caesar salad, which was quite bland, and I had the monkfish-char liver, which was outstanding. For entrees, we both had sushi/sashimi, which was alright but certainly not anything like Nobu or Yasuda. The bread was great, particularly a wafer-like seaweed cracker.
The Winelist: I was very impressed by the number of offerings in the $30 to $50 per bottle range. No complaints here.
