With a vague recollection that someone had recommended this spot for breakfast or burgers, I stopped at the Home Plate on Sunday for a late lunch. Prices are quite low here, and I was sorry that I'd missed the 11am deadline for breakfast as the biscuits and gravy listed on chalkboard sounded good to me for some reason.
I ordered a rib eye steak sandwich ($8) rare, and it was cooked exactly as ordered. Delicious and tender too, not at all hard to bite through. Too much mayo on the grilled balloon bread, yet I admired the crunchy leaves of iceberg lettuce and thick slices of ripe tomato as better quality than expected. Fries were crunchy and satisfyingly greasy.
Not a place to go out of your way for, but a place to keep in mind the next time I'm in the area and want something simple and fast.
