review of Finz in Salem, MA

Thanks to everyone who gave great recommendations for a recent night out in Salem (9/16 postings). I was asked to post a review so here goes...

We ended up going to Finz (craving some oysters) and had a spectacular time. I had been there twice before: once with family and the place was loud, service was rushed, and it wasn't worth the price; second time with a friend for a drink at the bar and we couldn't hear ourselves over the live music (just a stand up bass and guitar!) so we had to leave. I am really glad I gave it another shot!

We had a perfect table (arrived at 6pm) overlooking the water, a waiter who clearly enjoyed his job and the food was great. We had a seared tuna that was poached in EVOO over a basil mashed potatoes (yum!) and boullabaise with everything you'd ever want and a great tomato broth. The Oysters were great and the wine--when I can remember the name I'll post that--was perfect. A lot of credit goes to our waiter who was knowledgable, mature, knew about wines and oysters.

Hope someone finds this interesting!
