Review - Earl's

We visited Earl's (560 3RD AVE @ 37TH , 212-949-5400) for a quick Sunday brunch this weekend. I wasn't expecting anything unusually good or bad, and the place was about as one would expect.

We arrived at 1ish, and if they had crowds, we didn't see them, and were seated right away. Our server seemed like she had few too many tables since getting bread/water etc took a few requests. We ordered omelets ($*), breakfast nachos ($9), pancakes ($8), and a "piggly wiggly" sandwich ($9).

The nachos were pretty messy, but huge in size. Not really something you should get here -- go to a Mexican place. The omelot was functional enough. My pancakes were kind of small and dry, but the rest of the breakfast was solid. The piggly wiggly sandwich looked like the winner.

I wouldn't go back , or make an effort to go here, but the food is functional enough and it is cheap. Maybe brunch isn't there strong point ; it looked like BBQ and beers are more of their forte. Handy if you are in the neighborhood and have the metabolism to burn off the calories they serve....
