we rented a car and enjoyed a nice winter weekend in the hamptons. of course the best thing is that you can enjoy yourself in the whole region without all the summer crowds. the highhlight was an excellent dinner at THE ALMOND in bridgehampton.
we started off with a fine bottle of Kunin, Zinfandel, 2005, Paso Robles . for an app we split a delicious truffled wide lasagna style noodle dish. the noodles were house made and although al dente they perfectly melted in every bite. that's a tough feat of magic to capture with noodles dishes imo. what a great start. have a look, i'm just so sorry you all can't taste it too :
for a main i had probably the best marinated onglet/hangar steak frites i have ever had. wow. cooked perfectly rare. it was quite a large portion so save your appetite. maybe seeing is (almost) believing?:
my spouse had a long island duck dish w/ yams, wild rice and i think those are chipollini onions? yes by now you are compelled to look ;) :
for a dessert finale we shared a glass of armanagac and a wonderful bread pudding. as otis day once said in animal house, "and here it 'tis":
