Returning to Paris in September, need help!

My wife and I, from San Francisco, will be visiting Paris for a week in September with food oriented friends who have not been there before. My wife and I have been often, the last time in 2009. We will be staying in an apartment in the 7th and are looking for lunch and dinner recommendations.

On our arrival day, Sunday, we intend to dine at La Fontaine de Mars where we have been many times and enjoy the food and the atmosphere. We think it will be a nice introduction to Paris after the long flight.

In 2009 we had a wonderful lunch at Le Cinq but this time we are planning on going to lunch at Jules Verne--both for the food and view and to avoid the long lines at the Eiffel Tower. Is there another restaurant in the category of these two that would be good for a long lunch?

We loved Frenchie on our last visit and am wondering if it is still considered a good restaurant. I've heard it's almost impossible to get a reservation by phone. Is that true? I am also concerned about the limited choices.

We also enjoyed restaurant Paul-Bert and we're thinking of going there. Thoughts?

Despite the enthusiastic reviews and hype, we did not really enjoy Chez l'ami Jean, primarily because of the very small tables and generally noisy and crowded conditions. I seem to have been seated in an aisle and was constantly being jostled by the passing waiters. The food was fine but we were not blown away.

We are considering Bofinger and have heard the food has improved in recent years and that the overall experience is great.

On a much earlier visit, I had a wonderful cassoulet at Au Trou Gascon but I've heard it has gone somewhat downhill. I liked the feel of that restaurant and enjoyed the area in which it is located.

In addition, we are looking for some nice bistros in the area near where we are staying--on rue du Grenelle near the Champs du Mars

Will appreciate whatever advice we can get and thanks in advance for it.
