How to resurface a plastic cutting board

VFish | Jul 21, 202101:45 PM     38

Okay, so I want to smooth out the surface of a couple of my cutting boards. We do not have a planer or some such. My husband set me to task with an 80 grit sander. It has worked some, but now I'm left with a surface that is not smooth, it feels like it's covered with a fine powder, although all dust removed and cleaned. So, I don't want plastic bits getting cut into my food. I was informed to move down to a finer grit, my husband says it will take even longer to do, but I want to make sure I am on the right track.

I would like to know if any of you have resurfaced your plastic cutting boards? I know of one here who has mentioned it and I've asked him a couple of times how he has done it but talk about keeping secrets (hint, hint), as it has never been answered.

I was going to buy two new cutting boards but I'm not happy with the juice grooves of what's out there, they wouldn't stop anything from overflowing and the deeper/wider ones seem to be hard to find now. Also, I'm not spending a boatload either and it has to be close to 13 x 18", the largest I can store,

But for the time being I'm hoping to just resurface these.
