I am a Houston foodie looking for some help! I am going to be in Chicago the second weekend in Februrary and I need help with picking a dinner place. We arrive in Chicago Friday evening and have just enough time to check into the hotel (Hotel Sofitel - N. Michigan Ave.) and grab dinner before the 11pm show at Second City. I would like to make 9:00 dinner reservations either near our hotel or near Second City. Ideally we would finish dinner in about an hour and twenty minutes or so and get to Second City between 10:30-10:40. Depending on distances we will either walk or take cabs (not sure how well this southern girl will be able to fare in that weather!).
I am looking for a moderately expensive restaurant (somewhere in-between super casual and fine dining - and we dont have tons of time). As far as genre I am looking for American (New American or Comfort Food). We are eating Italian at Spiagga on Saturday night. Ideally it would be somewhere trendy but I hear Lincoln Park isn't the trendiest of neighborhoods. The other caviat is that the only protein my boyfriend eats is chicken so it has to be on the menu (unless there is some sort of sandwhich, pasta, or burger option). I found Perennial which would have been perfect but they didn't have chicken. Also I found Mity Nice which looked perfect, however their kitchen closes at 9:00 so that didnt work either. Those two places should give you an idea of the kind of thing we are looking for!
Thank you for any and all suggestions!!
