Can a Restaurant Critic Review Before Opening Day?

Michele Cindy | Apr 4, 2001 08:45 AM

Friends of mine are opening a restaurant tomorrow. During their "dress rehearsal" on Sunday for friends, a well dressed, pleasant women came in off the street and INSISTED, on eating there that day. Rather then put off a potential customer they welcomed her. While eating her meal she asked a lot of questions, and wrote in a small notebook as she looked around the place. Some thought she may be a critic, but others said that would be unethical since the place was not officially open. Any ideas?
