Restaurant Advice for a Transplant

Hey Philadelphians,

I'm a recent Penn grad (2003) who moved to Los Angeles for work. I'm flying in to Philadelphia again in a couple weeks for Homecoming - and I need to make reservations for dinner with a good friend. Help me with some 'houndly food choices!

Dinner is for Friday night, so I'm going to assume it's too late for Django. Otherwise ...

I'd like to find a quieter, off-the-beaten-path type of place that serves large portions of delicious fare. The ethnicity of cuisine is unimportant. I'm thinking my best bet is a small, cozy Italian BYO, but I'm open to ANY suggestions.

I told my friend to go ahead and make reservations but he's totally out of touch with the restaurants in the city. Please help me help him with some suggestions!
