Lost 30 lbs three years ago, and have kept it off for three years, while frequently indulging many times a week in pasta, potatoes, pizza, bagels, bread, etc.... Then, I just get back on the wagon for a few days with more protein and few carbs.
Cold weather is arriving and been overdoing it with the hearty comfort food, and gained 8 lbs the last month. Back to what works, at least for me!
Have a mad passion for exploring new restaurants, and love all foods and cuisines, and live in Manhattan so should be easy.
My fave low-carb stand-by's (and eager to hear yours!!):
Menchanko-Tei -- oden; hearty, filling, satisfying, delicious
Sashimi/ cucumber rolls (rice-free) from sushi bars
Chicken veg soup -- from many delis
Western egg-white omelet and coffee in the am
Chinese is a disaster -- can get steamed dishes w/o rice or sauce, but how boring!!
For more formal places, it's always easy -- steak, meat, fish, poultry, etc, and order extra veg's in place of a starch.
Any other day-to-day type restaurant ideas to keep me away from getting a slice, a bagel, a pasta, or hitting my fave Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese places where I instantly get bloated? (This is how I gained the 30 lbs initially! Ate the sugary-starchy stuff for a year, 1-2x/day, and somehow it does seem to make one so hungry a couple hours later!)
