So. It's time to buy a piece of kitchen equipment I've been denying myself for too long. Please help.
I want a large mortar and pestle which I can use for a lot of different things. The problem is that there seems to be a different type of mortar for each kind of cuisine. I would like to buy one set that I can use for curry pastes, pesto, grinding spices, and guacamole. Do I really need a Thai mortar, a marble mortar and a molcajete, etc.?
I want a large (at least 8"), heavy vessel that will not retain food scents. Cheap is good, too, but I want something that will last forever. Any thoughts or suggestions?
