We went to the new Mekong on 5th Avenue between 1st Ave. and Garfield in Brooklyn.
Very good, somewhat over-refined Vietnamese. Smallish portions, appetizers around $6, entrees around $12.
Spring rolls were just 4 pieces, individually wrapped. Quite good, but with just lettuce and mint (no cilantro. The dipping sauce was excellent quality fish sauce with just enough hot sauce mixed in, but just 1 piece of lettuce to wrap the rolls in.
Short ribs were like satay -- quite good.
Chicken in Iron Pot was excellent, with a great balance of flavors. I asked for it hot, which it really wasn't, but had enough bite to perk up the flavor.
Beef with coconut cause was also good.
LOUD, obnoxious rap music, which spoiled it for us. We probably won't be back.
