Got a gift certificate for $130 laast Christmas, so the wife and I decided it's time to give Le Bec another chance. Invites another couple to join us for lunch.

A champagne cocktail was lovely and served as requested (slightly pink)...but the champagne could have been a bit cooler.
Crown Royal Manhattens were perfect.
Found a lovely Cotes du Rhone for $50 which pleased us all.
My fois gras terrine app was superb and a very nice portion. My Rabbit entree was tasty, well-presented and probably also a fair portion (though I usually like to eat 1/2 a rabbit)
My wife's Tuna Tartar app was excellently flavored and the tuna quality was excellent. But the portion seemed extrememly chintzy. Maybe 1/2 of what you might get at any other nice place (like Budakan or Striped Bass).
Her Snapper entree was of decent size and well-flavored, but part of it was slightly fishy.
One of the app salads served our friends was also quite meager, though her risotto with shrimp was to die for.
Desserts seem to have actually improved since Mr. Bennet has left, but not much.

Our bill with tip and tax was $440. Considering the price, we were unimpressed, but naot depressed. The food and service and actually been excellent. The portions should have been larger. We all agreed tdhat, all things considered, we probably would not return again for a long time. Just doesn't deserve the 5th star (which I hear they may get).

Went home and discussed dthe meal with friends who said the price was too high, so I called the next day and spoke to the manager. He pulled the check and it seemed we were billed for drinks and wine we didn't have. He credited our credit card the difference. My wife points out that I must call again to get credited the tax and tip on the difference...a total pain in the butt.

I'm a little angry and curious if the overbilling happens a lot. The place still has lots of room for improvement.
