Does Anyone Remember Aglio on Passyunk?

Beth Ann | Jan 7, 2004 05:23 PM

Honestly, on an almost monthly basis my friend and I disuss our wonderful meals we once dined on at the long-since-closed Aglio in South Philly on Passyunk Ave. (At least I think it was Passyunk!)

Oh...that so-wrong-it's-right garlic soup .... and those roasted tomato appetizers they'd put on the table BEFORE you ordered appetizers! I don't think I'll ever again taste something so good that I have no idea how to recreate on my own. And OH! That beautiful wood bar!! Does anyone know what became of the chef? Is he still cooking locally? The last I recall, and mind you my memory is fuzzy, the restaurant was to have moved its location to Rittenhouse Square -- a move that tragically never materialized. After it closed, another restaurant took over the space but was nowhere up to par as Aglio.

Anyway...if anyone knows if the chef/owner is still cooking in the area, we'd sure appreciate knowing where! (At least we can bug him for the roasted tomato recipe!)
