regulars get tables first at Shimo Sushi

Just a warning to those considering eating at Shimo on Clement. My husband and I had a pretty miserable experience last night, we walked in and put our name on the list behind another couple. We waited about 10 minutes and the first couple on the list was seated and we continued to wait. Another 5-8 minutes later a couple came in, a man and an Asian woman, and high-fived the sushi chef, Freddy. They were brought beers as he said, with a wink, "I'll put our name on the list" (but of course did not). Another three Asian women walked in and also failed to put their name on the list. They were seated a few minutes later at a four top (we didn't expect to get a four top when we were a deuce) and then the jerk who was a regular was seated at the sushi bar ahead of us. We complained to "Freddy" about the fact that the list was not being used, and that the two managers, a man and a woman had definitely seen us waiting there for more than 20 minutes. The couple realized that they were caught and started to get up from the bar, but we left. It left us feeling really crappy. While we totally understand that regulars are the lifeblood of any restaurant, it was compeletely inconsiderate and unacceptable treatment to treat two potential regulars so poorly. We ended up at our favorite Mexican Restaurant, Tommy's at 23rd and Geary, where yes we are regulars, but we still wait our turn for a table like everyone else.
