Might have found my next regular hangout – Taste on Melrose

Nice indoor or outside seating, comfy chairs, cool music, great service and the food…
Grilled romaine w/ smoked bacon + gorgonzola dressing
Pear + caramelized onion pizza w/ walnuts and gorgonzola
Spicy garlic shrimp served with rice stick noodles, asparagus, and blood oranges in some sort of spicy ginger citrus based sauce
Red wine braised chuck roast w/ carrots, gremolata served over pappardelle noodles

Food was flat out to die for WARNING: food can also be very rich so watch your combos – I often wonder why LA does have restaurants that there sole mission is to get you back because everything is priced fairly, portions are well sized, ingredients are fresh and make sense how they are used and tons to choose from on each trip – I can’t wait to go back – this is nothing like this place in LA – closest I could compare it to is maybe AJA in SB, but without the deep frying. Wine list is just OK, no standouts, nice Kris Pinot Grigio to start things off – I brought my own for the $ 15 corkage – Roar 2002 pinot from Gary’s vineyard – killer wine with this type of food. One of the owners was nice enough to let me sample some of their curried chicken and it’s also fabulous. Hope your meal was as good as ours – place is right next to lucques.
