I had dinner last night at the Red Dish Grille in Commack (Jericho Turnpike, across from the fire department, in strip mall next to Nutrition Warehouse). Very attractive inside - separate bar area - extensive "martini" menu - trendy and Manhattanish feeling. Menu is American - some Asian, some Italian, steak, etc. We had the soup - ginger carrot with rice dumplings - a county salad - nicely dressed greens, with plenty of goat cheese - caesar salad - standard. Entrees were sea bass with asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, potatoes, and citrus (sea bass was substituted for the halibut listed on the menu, which was not available), herb roasted chicken with mashed potatoes (chicken had nice crispy exterior)lamb chops (served with a mix of lentils, zucchini, tomatoes and rosemary) odered rare and cooked perfectly and wild mushroom ravioli with plenty of additinal wild mushrooms in the sauce. All very good, nice portions, nice presentation. Acceptable service. Relatively full for a Monday, I hear a wait on weekends already.
BTW, for smokers, there are a few tables in the bar.
