Recommendations for a Fruitvale Food Crawl

ron c | Jan 9, 2006 02:37 PM

I'm planning to meet some friends for a Sunday afternoon food crawl starting and ending at the Fruitvale BART station.

Based on my personal experiences, I was planning to make at least 2 stops:

1) La Costa Mariscos for coctels and ceviches

2) El Huarache Azteca for the huaraches and sopes - hopefully they're offering the chicken tinga I've heard so much about.

If I recall, Taqueria San Jose is reliable for good and cheap tacos - is that other people's opinion as well?

I'm also hopeful that we'll find street vendors offering sliced fruit with chile and limon and the freshly fried churros too.

Any other recommendations or revisions you could make for our itinerary?

Thanks!!
