I have been a Chowhound "lurker" for many years, but felt it was time to create a few posts for an upcoming trip since I greatly value the opinion of the Chowhound community.
I will be visiting Barcelona with my husband (both of our first times) for 6 full days in late-July (arriving on a Tuesday and staying through the following Monday morning). We will be staying in an apartment in El Poble-sec near the intersection of Carrer de Murillo and Career de la Creu dels Molers. I can be a bit of an over planner, but we are trying to make this a more relaxed trip rather than trying to fit in too much. I am also trying to prevent "food fatigue" since this is the last leg of a longer trip. We are most interested in knowing about neighborhood "gems," "hole in the wall," as well as "can't miss" food suggestions in or near the Poble-sec area, although we will welcome any particular standout recommendations for Barcelona.
We are adventurous eaters, but we would prefer local specialties rather than ethnic cuisines (e.g., I adore sushi, but don't want to eat this while in Barcelona unless it is spectacular even by Japanese standards). Bars, cafes, bakeries, full service restaurants, markets, food carts, etc. would all be great. Places that would allow for walk-in with minimal to moderate wait or a short notice reservation are especially ideal. Finally, we are trying to be budget conscious as this is the last leg of a 24 day trip (yes, pretty epic!). Restaurants in the ~30 euros per person (no drinks) or less are of particular interest, but again, we may be willing to "splurge" on an occasion (~100 euros per person) so will take other recommendations as well.
Any advice or suggestions would be wonderful. Thank you everyone in advance!
