I'm 24 and living on my own in a big city. It's expensive to eat out, and while I make a killer sandwich, it's boring to eat turkey and tunafish meal after meal.
I am avid watcher of The Food Network, own some pretty substantial cookbooks (heavy on discussions of technique), and enough basic tools to get by.
The question is, what do I cook first? What are some recipes you learned early on and still make today? Where do I start?
