Recipe wanted: Florida Salad

pwhitten | Aug 31, 201108:01 PM

A few years ago, I saw a recipe in a column in a newspaper for Florida Salad, and I would really like to make it again, but I don't remember everything that went into it.

It was not a standard recipe, apparently it is meant to be something that Florida natives would throw together with what they had on hand. As I recall, it had cooked, peeled shrimp, chunks of Florida avocado, chunks of mango and/or papaya, and a citrus vinagrette dressing.

Does anyone have any knowledge of such a salad? I don't think it had any salad greens in it, mostly shrimp, avocado and tropical fruit. I'm sure there were other things in it, maybe some red onion?

Thanks for your help,
Peg Whitten
