Ah... the LA Farmers Market... one of the rare places in the city where you can really feel like you're truly in the middle of a bustling city.
The post below about the wretched BBQ at the Farmer's Market made me wonder what 'Hounds current faves (and not-so-faves) are.
Singapore Banana Leaf - truly wonderful, flavorful, delicious. The Laksa (coconut soup with sprouts, noodles and fish dumplings) is my favorite.
Loteria! - yes it's pricey, but the shredded beef burrito ($8) and mushroom tacos (about $4 for 2) are wonderful.
Bread Bin - The Hungarian baker is so proud of his pastries and is a blast to talk to, a consummate salesman who adds layers of texture to the market that you would never, ever find at a grocery store. He really makes you want to try his goods. His egg challah is delicious.
Bennett's Ice Cream - WAY too expensive ($3 for a single scoop cone...) but delicious
Also, just tried the pizza place (D'amores I think?) oddly shaped small slices and crust wasn't crispy enough, but the flavor was quite nice and reminiscent of old New Jersey haunts.
The BBQ place "bear pit" I think it's called - Wretched
The Italian Place next to DuPars - Horrible!
I eagerly await your favorite places and menu items
