After many years of walking by, ate at Forest Cafe Porter Square.... Bottom line: okay neighborhood place, nice vibe at the bar; food nothing to go our of your way for. Interesting chicken liver app, best dish of the night. Shrimp in pumpkin seed mole totally forgettable. Pork with hazelnut mole also forgetable. Nice reasonably priced pour on a glass of Cab at the bar.
Hit the Wine and Cheese Cask, not having been there for a few years. Okay wine place in a pinch, but the selection is VERY, VERY limited. Prices were also a tad high. Again an "only in the neighborhood" option. Also bought some Spanish fig loaf from them that was just bad. Threw it out.
Finally, had dinner at Aquitaine for a business dinner. Perfectly acceptable meal, but nothing notable. I had the duck breast which was just passable.
Anyhow, back to my usual dive haunts, I need some real chow.
