going to Ramsay's tomorrow (London)-question about bad form

drdawn | Sep 6, 2005 11:16 AM

I've only once had a serious high end meal before in my life, and so going is a really big deal for me. I'd like to be able to get the seven course fixed menu, to allow Gordon to show off all of his talents (well, there's a few more I'd like to see too, but that's another forum).

I've got a serious allergy to shellfish, and what I'm dreading is getting there and finding this menu has a course with shellfish in it. Is it considered bad form to ask for a sub--i.e., give me whatever you like just don't feed me shellfish, or is the menu likely to be really really fixed, no ifs ands or buts. I'm squeamish about asking for things as it is, and I don't want to spend my time thinking about whether I've made some faux pas.

Thanks for any advice! Will report (although I think you know what it will be...)
