Raleigh: The Duck & Dumpling

Nab | Oct 31, 200410:42 AM

Headed to see some music in Raleigh with some friends who wanted to try this place out before the show. I had never heard of it, and only knew of the plan while on the ride to Raleigh, so no time to perform any due diligence.

Good stuff on the menu, but grossly overpriced. I didn't know it was a swanky place, and to be honest, I don't think I've ever eaten Asian food in a place so swanky. People were wearing suits. I guess that's besides the point. If they made delicious food, I wouldn't be complaining. It was average at best, which is like rubbing salt in your wounds when you think about the same dishes at 1/4th the cost at your favorite place.

Couldn't really taste the duck in the dumplings. My crabcake was pretty good though, almost like a real MD one. Lemongrass beef salad was pretty nice with good lemongrass flavor. Didn't try the sea bass, but it looked good, just tiny.

Again, overall, it was average. Which means skip it. We're not here to eat average food.
