I was reading a message thread on this board and someone used the phrase I used for the subject, referring to Cafe Chloe and asking if it was the "quintessential San Diego restaurant," to which the response was that it probably wasn't and that perhaps a taqueria could make that claim.
Well, I'm visiting San Diego over the Memorial Day weekend, and I'm wondering: what *is* the quintessential San Diego restaurant, in your estimation? For vacationeering purposes, I'm most interested in table service restaurants, but I'm curious about the whole range.
(I'm considering reservations at Arterra, Parallel 33 and/or Restaurant Nine-Ten, but none of these are set, yet. We'll be there five days, likely with one day's excursion to Tijuana assuming that we can still cross the border for day trips without passports. Hey, can I ask about restaurants there on this board? It's Baja California, right?...)
