Thanks to all of you who shared such great advice on resturants in Canadian Rockies. We ate beautifully and here's the scoop:
Emerald Lake Lodge (nearer Lake Louise): we stayed there and ate a couple of meals there. We even ate breakfast, which we don't normally do or even enjoy for that matter. But it was all good. For breakfast I particularly enjoyed their homemade granola with berries. We ate two dinners in their lounge area and had a great wild game anitipasto plate. Not sure I would drive all the way over there for a meal alone, but if you go that way to see the lake, stop in for a bite.
Baker Creek Chalet Resturant (near Lake Louise): Very good. Great service. My husband had a nice black cod dish and the wine they recommended was perfect.
Crazyweeds (Canmore): Well y'all were right about the food. Outstanding. I had halibut in a red curry sauce that I am still dreaming about. The sauce was spicy with chilis but softened with fennel and served with arugula salad and jasmine rice. Oh my. My husband had a chicken with pomegranite sauce that was fruity tasting, but not sweet. Really exceptional. Our observation of the place, however, is that, they do one thing very well and that is cook. The staff was friendly, but the ownership really doesn't care if you are very comfortable. Tables inside are almost an afterthought, so crowded together and outside, it got pretty cold around 10 pm (we had an 8:00 pm reserv) Even the restroom was kind of bleak.
Treo (Canmore): New resturant recommended by the owner of the lodge where we stayed. (which by the way made lovely breakfasts and provided a great picnic lunch each day...Bear and Bison Inn)
Very, very good. Great wine recommendation to go with the food. Again I had a fish dish (can't remember what) but it was ALL GOOD.
So we hope others eat as well as we did and enjoy a trip to the beautiful Canadian Rockies.
