After reading a recent thread below about Lebanese restaurants, we decided to eat at Fattoush in Noe Valley last night. It was a quick meal as we had to be somewhere later. We had lentil soup to start, which was a little thin for me but seasoned properly and very flavorful. We had two somewhat similar entrees: (1) Sambusak Dajaj, which is kind of a b'stilla like dish, filo dough stuffed with chicken, mushroom, almonds and onion, cinnamon and other spices, and served with a spinach sauce and some diced tomatoes, and (2) M'sakhan, which is chicken and caramelized onions, almonds, sumac and allspice, wrapped in lavash, served with saffron yogurt sauce. Loved that saffron yogurt sauce! Another dish that looked good which we didn't try was the Mansaf, which was a mountain of lamb with a sauce of aged yogurt, served with rice garnished with almonds. Service was friendly and competent, the atmosphere pleasant. The restaurant was not very crowded so we were able to converse with ease.
