Gonna be visiting Chicago for the first time with a friend in tow. We are both single ladies in our late thirties and looking for good food, good atmosphere, good drinks - and in general, a good time. We have made reservations at Schwa for Friday (yes - we know it's BYOB) and Blackbird for Saturday. Curious about local Chowhounders' take on both spots - in particular wondering about dress code. I'm from NYC, and even at a great number of hot spots, jeans are not only acceptable, but are pretty standard (dressed up, mind you - but jeans, nonetheless). Direction on that score would be helpful. Also, would love some advice on watering holes - ones where we won't feel like we're a decade older than the crowd. Heard Coq d'Or was a lovely spot. Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome!
