question about vacuum sealer... ?

Vacuvirgo | Dec 6, 200812:35 PM     2

This is my first post here, so please forgive me if I'm putting it in the wrong place. I love to bake, and since I'm single, food often spoils before I can cook it. So, I bought a vacuum sealer (a Rival Seal a Meal, made by the same company as the Food Savers (Jarden)). I know there have been previous threads on the subject of vacuum sealers (thanks to a google search), but I don't see any currently.

My question is that when I try to seal a bag that I'm made too narrow, (it's longer than it is wide, maybe 4 or 5 inches wide), the machine fails to vacuum the air out of it. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Do any of you know how to resolve this problem? I hate to waste bag material for no reason!

Thanks!
