question about changing baking time and temperatures

Is there a rule of thumb for altering the baking time and temperatures when you change the size of the dish? For example, let's say you have a recipe for cupcakes, and you want to instead turn it into one big cake (e.g. bake it in a round cake pan vs muffin tins). Do you have to change the baking time and oven temp?
