I want to give some give cards for family members as holiday presents. There are a few places in Manhattan that I know offer them, but I think something in the Bronx or Queens would be preferred for them. My parents would want something not too fussy - my dad gets annoyed if he is sitting for dinner for too long (when I tell him about tasting menus he thinks they sound like hell) and is generally very meat and potatoes. Puerto Rican - pernil, mofongo, tripe - or Southern food goes over well for him. Something a little more upscale is fine for others, though, and no other food constraints for the rest of the family. I'm giving a call to Sofrito in Manhattan, which my family LOVES, but pretty sure they don't have any. Almost forgot - we are collectively in love with Indian food, too, although usually we stick with Manhattan. They liked Dawat a few years ago, Tamarind, Haveli for cheaper. I don't really know from the options in Queens outside of Jackson Heights. For whatever reason, my dad does not mind a more refined atmosphere for his Indian food.
Thanks fo any suggestions!
