Best Purveyors of Italian products in Carroll Gardens?

chowgal | Sep 13, 2004 11:59 AM

Just moved to Carroll Gardens and am hosting a Housewarming party for about 20. I would like to showcase the beautiful purveyors of Italian products here in the neighborhood / along Court Street. I have yet to actually try any, but have done some scoping out. Here are my thoughts on menu items I'd like to incorporate, but I would value opinions from those in the know on where to find the best source for ingredients.

Italian Cheese course: Caputo's on Court?
It seems everyone makes mozzarella - any thoughts on the Best?
Bread and rolls from Mazzola?
Who has the best Italian coldcuts / salumi? Perhaps the Salumeria across from Mazzola?
What about Italian Sausages?
Olives? I was thinking of breaking the theme and trying Sahadi's.

Desserts: cookies from Court Street Bakery? Are theirs better than the other bakeries? Cheesecake from Monteleone's of course.

Thanks for your houndish housewarming help!
