Pupusas! Mazatlan SSF

Swarthog | Nov 29, 200412:58 PM

Since we are always on the lookout for good Pupusas, I thought I would share our experience at Mazatlan at 203 Linden Ave in SSF. The Pupusas are $1.6o each and are a bit bigger than a CD. Freshly made and not at all greasy (like I've had before). They come in different variations with Pork being the only meat offered. The Curtido had a pink hue to it, and I would prefer a bit more Oregano, but piled on top of the Pupusa and sauced it was great (needed a bit of salt overall, but thats fine). We also ordered a Chile Relleno, stuffed with meat (beef), it was quite good with Anahiem pepper being used and a chunky tomato sauce. The meat pies were served hot and crispy, filled with meat and potatoes, yummy. We also had some Chicken tamales, they came stuffed in Bananna leaves and the maize had a smokey, creamy texture. Very good. A good choice for those looking for Salvadorian food as a change from the usual Mexican faire (they also had Mexican food on the menu). The food bill was less than $30 for the 3 of us, a great deal too!
