We had dinner at Pumpkin last night, after an absence of about a year. I always liked Pumpkin but the meal we had last night surpassed those we had on our previous visits. I think the chef is really evolving. My husband started with day boat scallops, accompanied by a carrot puree. I had the grilled romaine with a maytag sauce. Both very good. I asked the waitress what Wallu was and she described it as almost like a white salmon. She said everyone who'd ordered it cleaned their plates so I took a chance It was superb. I usually steer away from white fishes, thinking them bland however this was anything but. My husband had the crispy salmon with polenta. He loved it. For dessert, we each had a Napoleon. Not too big a portion, which was fine. Very yummy. Bill after tax and before tip was $76. Not bad at all. BTW, the waitress was delightful. Almost forgot to mention: the dipping sauce they served with the bread was more interesting than the usual. Some kind of olive oil and balsamic vinegar with calamata olives. Just tastier than most.
