Pronpiya Thai in Moopark

LesThePress | Feb 22, 201007:11 AM

We were looking to try a new Thai place on Saturday and would be in Moorpark. We were at the Do-it-Center one Sunday and saw this Thai place in the stores nearby. Unfortunately it was closed, so of course we thought of trying it.

It’s a tiny place (along the lines of most Thai places) called Pronpiya. Inside was very clean and simply appointed but very pleasing. There was one table with 3 people just finishing lunch and left soon so we had the place to ourselves. I loved the menu, lots of pictures of all the dishes, very colorful and nice.

The waitress was very good. She took our order without writing anything down. We’ve had this before and invariably something in or order is wrong, so we weren’t pleased with this. I found the prices on the high side for such a small place in a strip mall. Prices were more in line with (overpriced) Exotic Thai, about $1 to $3 more than most other places. I was thrilled that the had both brown and purple rice, I especially like purple rice.

We ordered a Phad Thai, mixed vegetables w/tofu, cashew nut chicken and spicy mint chicken. We really liked the Phad Thai, although I was disappointed it didn’t have any cilantro. I was very light on the fish sauce and had a slight sweetness to it that we both liked. Next time I’m asking for cilantro (I love it!!). The mixed vegetables were very fresh and good, though not my favorite dish (my so ordered it since she doesn’t like meat). Both the cashew nut and spicy chicken (which was ground chicken, another favorite of mine) were excellent. I ordered them Pet Mak (Thai hot) and they did have a nice amount of heat to them. We had lots of leftovers and guess what I’m having for lunch today and tomorrow! Also, I am very pleased to say she got our entire order right!

We will be back to Pronpiya very soon to try 3 other dishes and see if the flavor and quality holds up.

Simihound, have you gone here? If not, give it a try and let me know what you think.
