My parents' 40th wedding anniversary is coming up and I need some suggestions. We originally had planned a party for 40 or so people only to discover my dad wanted something simpler - as in just immediate family. What would be perfect for him would be a place where we could have a private room or an alcove that's away from most other diners (i.e. quiet enough so he can hear the person at the other end of the table). As an example, we took them one year to the Inn at Philips Mill near New Hope, which they both loved (wasn't a private room, but there was just one other table and that was cattycorner to us).
Restaurant needs to be in Montco, Bucks, or Philly. BYO or a decent wine list. Price isn't too important (we were budgeting for 40 people after all).
My parents usually order fish when dining out. Any recommendations? I was thinking James on 8th or Oceannaire in the city. I'm less familiar with the 'burbs, particularly since I'm rarely in the area anymore.
