Going to PR for the holidays. *Not* doing the tourist schtick (Old San Juan, etc.). My husband and I would like to do some good chowhounding. Can anyone help out with a quick rundown on typical Puerto Rican dishes? For instance, what exactly is mofongo?
And if anyone can recommend places to eat, great. We'll be staying near Fajardo in NE PR. I've done a search from the Chowhound homepage, but there isn't a whole lot of information, and what there is seems to focus on some of the fancier and resort type places.
