Somewhere I lost the thread about a good unassuming Mexican place near the Hollywood Lanes on Santa Monica Blvd. at Hobart. But I went and have to agree with my memory of the prior posts. It's good. It's cheap. It's nothing to look at. For $7 plus tip I had a coke and Tacos Dorados, a daily special. Turned out to be 3 hard rolled tortilla covered chicken delites (looked and tasted like chicken flautas) covered with lettuce, tomato, a slice of avocado and cheese. And a side of rice. And refried beans. The difference was everything was fresh. The refries were soupy not the usual congealed mud on the side of the plate. The rice was not dried out as it usually is , and it had peas and little chunks of carrot in it. The only thing that seemed to come from a can was my coke. Works for me. And judging by the contented looks I saw on other faces, I wasn't alone. And there's lots of other things to try. I saw an intruiging looking bowl of a soup/stew on another table that had half an ear of corn floating in it.
