Yesterday or the day before there were some posts about tempura bars and the sight of that airy crispy delight danced before my eyes.I was at a meeting in Long Beach this lunchtime and stopped outside Wasabi "a Japanese restaurant" with a review pasted up outside extolling the virtues of their "Tempura Tower". Greed and hunger drove me into a seat at the bar aaaannnddd a huge disappointment. Not crunchy, not tasty, not fluffy, not airy, not nothing. As my darling Dad used to say 'the advertisements speak very highly of it'. But the sight of Paul the Sushi master slicing up a side of tuna was worth the view.
