I've been twice to a new Italian restaurant called Prego in Etobicoke and must say it is a breath of fresh air in an area that has very few memorable restaurants. On my first visit I had grilled calamari that was tender and flavourful. It had olives and sauteed tomatoes sprinkled on top. For the main course I had a smoked chicken pasta with olives, red peppers, sun dried tomatoes and rappini in a rose sauce. Others had lobster ravioli, seafood pasta that included clams mussels crab legs shrimps and squid and another diner had pheasant sausage with a yummy risotto.
On the second visit my husband and I shared a starter(that was a main course that can be served as a starter for 2) that was shrimps and scallops in a pernod cream sauce with a puff pastry cap. It was to die for.
The wine list is a bit limited but the prices are decent. I had a glass of Italian house chardonnay for $6.50. The main courses were in the $16 to $22 dollar price range.
