Prego - What happened?

Ingrid | Apr 30, 200511:06 PM

Had to vent tonight. Decided to go out for a bite to eat with my daughter close to home on Union Street. Have eaten at Prego many times before and food has slowly gotten worse.

Tonight was the absolute worst. Wanted a light meal so I ordered the carpaccio. The beef was good, but what went with it was lousy. The mustard sauce had no flavor whatsoever, an over-abundance of grated cheese (which I love, but this was too much), I was offered pepper and received large ungrounded balls of pepper, and way too much olive oil.

Also ordered a ceasar salad. I received all the top dark green leaves and very few "hearts". The dressing was so bitter I could barely eat this. I had a few bites and gave up.

My daughter ordered pizza margarhita. How can you screw that up. Well, if you don't cook the dough all the way through, that's how. The top was cooked to the point of browing the cheese - which sometimes is ok, but the crust was so doughy it tasted raw.

The couple next to us weren't too pleased either. Having ordered the Calamari fritte (fried, isn't that right?), she received sauteed calamari in a bolognese sauce.

Service, I have to say was pleasant but she had no clue that I was not pleased with my meal, even having left most of the salad on the plate.

Normally I would complain, but this seemed too much of a hassle, so $40 down the drain, but I know I'll never eat there again.

Thanks for letting me vent.
