I am grateful not to have gestational diabetes but still am supposed to lay off the sugar for another 10 weeks. Have been trying to eat a healthy range of foods, but ice cream and sweets are the ones I crave. Following the books as closely as possible and avoiding what seems like a huge list of foods recommended pregnant women stay away from: deli meats and mayo, soft cheeses, the fish with a lot of mercury, pate, blue cheese, raw fish, raw meat. And now need to avoid fruit, sweets, white bread and pasta. I'm down to vegetables (which don't really taste that good right now) and well done meat. Eating peanut butter on whole wheat toast and hard cheese with wheat crackers. Any suggestions of chowhoundly things to eat?? I'd like to avoid artificial sweetners. Thanks in advance!
