Similar to the hot sauce thread below, I'm curious on salsas people like, and for what usages.
This is especially since I found Herdez, which I can now get in my safeway. I make my own during the summer time from fresh toms, cilantro, onion, jalapenos, etc, and this stuff (the red, medium) tastes almost just like mine, with a similar wonderfully fresh consistency.
I don't like it, however, for use in things as warm bean dip, etc. I want something that's not as watery (which many may disagree for chip usage). Still, I only succumb to some dumb brand like Newmans or Pace, though I've gotten Ortega recently and have been okay with that.
In Central Missouri, though, there is a brand that comes out of Jeff City that is very very nice all the way around. La Casita is the name, I believe.
What are some other good national/regional/local salsas to keep an eye out for?
