I got to wondering whether Sweet Tamarind on Diversey just W of Southport might have something unusual tucked on its menu, since it seems very well regarded generally and I have always found it very fresh and high quality Thai... for the same old stuff.
As it's fairly upscale/yuppified for Thai (the B&B feel to the room and all that-- and the only Thai restaurant I know with a patio), it's hard to judge whether that makes it more likely to have some unusual dishes that the chef prides him/herself on, or more likely to be totally Americanized like a Big Bowl or Hi Ricky. But they do seem to make a big deal of a few dishes and ingredients. Anyway, fortunately, I don't have to scan in the menu this time because it's posted online. Take a look at some of the things with Tamarind in the title-- anything unusual here?
