Portugal Small Town Advice

demigodh | Sep 4, 201810:40 AM     3

Hi Everyone,

I'm going to Portugal for my honeymoon next May (20-28). We'll be starting in Sintra and then driving up to Porto for a couple days then driving back down to Lisbon for a couple days. Probably not going to hit the southern beaches but could be convinced (we're not beach people for the most part). I'd love recommendations for places to stop on the drives. If there are any small towns with local specialties I'd love to visit. We don't mind driving an hour off course if the food is worth it. Any advice as far as worthwhile stops between the cities would be great appreciated.

Miscellaneous notes: we're coming from USA (Texas) and obviously would prioritize dishes that are harder for us to find. That probably doesn't change anything but just in case. We're adventurous foodies and will eat at any price point (Michelin to roadside stands). If you have any tips unrelated to food such as beautiful sights or things specific to the dates we'll be in Portugal I'd love to hear that as well. Thank you in advance for your help and we can't wait for our visit!
