Pork Buns on Irving St. and other finds

Gordon Wing | Mar 13, 200209:58 PM

Was wandering up and down Irving St. the other day and stopped for a snack at Sun Maxim Bakery -2034 Irving St. /20th or 21st Ave. I got a baked pork bun and was pleasantly surprised - it was filled with a good portion of diced BBQ pork - no gristle, not a lot of fat. Much better than most of the pork buns I've had of late. I didn't try anything else while I was there but I'd go back for the baked pork buns. Nice variety of shopping - the falafel at Sunset Deli smelled great. Asparagus is $1.49 lb at several stores and you can find a 16 oz. bag of dried shitake mushrooms for $3.99. Not to mention the slightly out of date 6 oz. bag of Terra Sweet Potato chips for 35 cents or 3 for $1 at the store with the big signs for cheap cigarettes.
