Just got back from checking out Poor Freddie's in South Jamaica. As is so often the case in NYC, the ribs were mediocre -- no smokiness, no real flavor to the meat. Beef short ribs were also weak. But hog maws were pretty good, chopped pork bbq was among the better examples I've had in NYC (N.Carolina-style, with vinegar and flecks of red pepper), and the apple cobbler was probably the best I've had *anywhere.*
Odd touch: There were four or five signs that said things like, "Eat Fish, Live Longer" and "Eat More Fish Today!," but there was no fish to be found on the menu. Maybe they were just being ironic?
